Updates & 3 Months Left!!!
There is has been a little lull in wedding planning, however, we have gotten some things done:
1. We found a Pastor to marry us :) We are using the same Pastor that married my Aunt Kay almost 2 years ago. Ryan and I met with him and really liked him. He is willing to work with the Rabbi we already picked, so it worked out great!
2. We decided on our ketubah - for those of you that don't know what that is - traditionally, it is a signed Jewish marriage contract, however, these days it's also a meaningful, personal works of art to celebrate a wedding.
We picked the design "For Every Season" because I told Ryan that we couldn't take any major steps in our relationship until we had been together for at least all 4 seasons. So we thought this one was fitting :) We really liked the wording because it talks about our marriage, God, children, & family/friends. One of my favorite lines in the text is...."May we be poor in misfortune and rich in blessings." Here is the link to the design and text we chose:

3. My Mom, Aunt Kay, and I picked up my wedding dress from I Do Too and went to the alterations place they recommeded. I can't describe too many details of the alterations, but I am so excited to see it at the end of August :) Hopefully it will fit much better then!!

6 months to go :)
Ryan was so cute this morning...he called me to say "happy 6 months to our wedding"!! I feel bad that I didn't think about it, but it was very sweet of him to remember :)
I can't believe there is only 6 months left!! I can't wait for October to marry the sweetest guy I know :)

YAY!!! The honeymoon is finally booked :)
We finally booked our honeymoon last night!! We are going on a 7 night Southern Carribean cruise with Royal Carribean :) We leave a week after the wedding (hopefully that will give us more time to focus on the wedding and then pack afterwards)!! Here are the travel details...

I can't wait, I wish it was October already!!
We were thinking about booking our cruise and flight together and good thing we didn't because the price if it was booked together was $1500 for 2 vs. booking with the airline directly was $400 for 2. We found out that they reason they can charge so much for the flight is that the cruiseline covers any problems with the flights that might be caused by any cruise ship delays. I guess that is a risk we are willing to take :)

Exhausted after registering...
I never thought registering would be so exhausting, but it definitely was!! We went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond this weekend and were there for hours and only did a few rooms (with one break for lunch). I have no idea why it took so long, haha!! There was just so many choices and I am horrible at making decisions, especially ones that will be for the long run. Toward the end, we started scanning everything, so we definitely need to go back over our list and get rid of some stuff.
Ryan was a trooper during it all...he picked out the pots/pans and knives (boy stuff) and I mostly picked out the design of our dishes (girl stuff). We still need to go back for more things like giftables, towels, bedding, bathroom stuff, etc. Ryan did say a few times that we already have that and I said I want to register for new stuff. The workers at Bed, Bath, and Beyond kept saying this is your wish list, so put anything and everything on there ;)

Honeymoon Update (well kind of, haha!)
So we are still trying to decide where to go from our honeymoon! I still can't believe we don't have it figured out yet. We are now leaning more towards a southern carribean cruise...st marteen, st lucia, barbados, etc.
We looked at the weather in Europe in October and it will be low 60s, which we think is a little too cool...we would like to be able to enjoy the pool on the cruise and any beaches we might visit :) We also thought about a Hawaiian cruise, but my mom and Bob took one years ago and said they felt too rushed...that there is too much to see on each island and not enough time. We also thought about all-inclusive somewhere, but we just want to an all-inclusive resort last September, so even though we loved it, we would like to do something different.
Stay tuned for our final decision, hopefully we will decide this week or next!!

Wedding Dress Update
So I went with my mom to look at my wedding dress and it was perfect!! It is definitely the dress for me :) I can't wait for it to fit just right!!
My mom was so funny because she is terrified of the dress. She didn't want to pull out of the bag for me to try it, for fear she would "hurt" it somehow, haha. Also, she asked if we could leave the dress there as long as possible because she doesn't want to responsible, in case something happens (even though, I know nothing will happen). I Do Too said they will keep it until I get it altered (when I bought my dress they had free storage...I didn't even think about a storage fee) and then she has to take it home. I have no doubt that my mom will take good care of my dress :)

Wedding Dress
I ordered my wedding dress in October and they said it would be in at the end of February or beginning of March. I cannot believe it takes that long to ship from the designer. I did have one minor change to the dress, but I can't imagine it would take 4-5 months to complete.
I really have been wanting to call to see if the dress is in, even though I know they would call when it arrives. So the patient person I am (haha) decided to call yesterday. They said the dress has been shipped and it will arrive in the store tomorrow :) They have to inspect the dress and then, call me later this week to try it on. I can't wait for that phone call!!
It has been so long since I have tried on the dress that I hope I remember what it looks like and that I still like it. I have been watching Say Yes to the Dress and have seen horror stories where the girls claim that the dress that alterations shows them is not the dress they ordered or they have changed their mind since the last time they tried it on. I am pretty positive that I will still love the dress because I was undecided between 2 dresses and when I tried on "the dress" again, I got tears in my eyes :)

Disappointment with Music Selection
So we picked a DJ within the first month of getting engaged and I am so mad that we rushed to do that! The other day I got this email from JD's dueling piano bar in Pontiac that they play at weddings. Piano bars are my favorite because I love the music that they play!
Just out of curiousity I called to get pricing (which was stupid because I know we couldn't get our deposit back from the DJ we already booked). They said they have an all-inclusive price of $1,900, which includes 2 baby grand pianos with 2 piano players and a DJ (they switch if the crowd doesn't like the current music). I was shocked at how reasonable it is for what you get! I thought it would have been at least $5,000 - $10,000 because I know how expensive bands are. We are paying $900 for just a DJ, but it would cost way too much to change it :(
Ryan said we should get a group together to go there and hang out...so let me know if anyone is interested in going :)

Honeymoon Shock
I am so surprised that we haven't booked our honeymoon yet. I always thought that when I got engaged that would be first on my list and it's right now in last place. I absolutely love to travel and if I could I spend all my time traveling :) There are so many places we both want to see and I think that's our problem. We first need to figure out where and then we can do research for best places to stay and prices. Our picks are all over the place...Europe or European cruise (there are too many places I want to see there), Hawaii, Belize, Tahiti, or any other place that's warm (I stopped there because I can't remember all the places we have thought of)! I want to go some place that's different that neither one of us have been, except Hawaii...I have been, but it's so beautiful there (well Oahu is), so we could go to another island(s).

Flowers, Invitations, and Desserts Oh My!
Over the last couple of months, we have ordered and received our invitations and put deposits down at a florist and cake shops :) I feel so much better that we have all the big stuff out of the way!! Now, it's just the little stuff left and I hope we don't forget anything...
We ordered our invitations and I didn't realize how much work went into that! I went with my mom and Ryan's mom and we were there for over 3 hours, even though Ryan and I had the actual invitation already picked out prior to this appointment. I just picked up the invitations the other day and they turned out great :) I am so happy with them. They require a little work, but not too much. We also ordered our Save the Dates from magnetstreet.com and they also turned out great :) I had a hard time deciding if I wanted a picture magnet or not, and decided to go with the picture and I am so happy I did.
We went to 3 different flower shops...Bea's Flowers, Breath of Spring, and Lasting Touch.
1. I really liked the Bea's Flowers, but their pricing was well over our budget and they said that the type of bouquet I wanted is too expensive. Also, they suggested doing white, dark purple (I don't want light purple because I don't want it to look like a spring wedding), and green flowers, which I will explain next why that is a problem.
2. So then we went to Breath of Spring and that guy was crazy. All he talked about was that wedding flowers are a waste of money and so is paying for a wedding, haha!! Not really what you should say when you are trying to convince people to use your services. Then, he told us that his record is 5 moms in one wedding (which I thought was a lot). He also said his record for breakups was 3 this year and 8 total. He told us his deposit structure and said that if we breakup, we get our deposit back. I have never heard of that one before! When I told him that I was looking at white, dark purple, and green flowers, he said that the purple will disappear with the purple dresses and after seeing pictures, I realized he was right! I have hear that even though you tell him the type of flowers you want, on the day of the wedding, he may come up with a new idea and then charge you for it!
3. The last place we went to was Lasting Touch in this woman's house. I was so happy with her because I am getting the bouquet I want and she suggested cheaper ways of doing things. She was real easy to work with and much cheaper than the others :)
